ROUND 4
The Central Coast Rugby Union season continues this coming Saturday. The three WLG Premier 1 all hold considerable interest.
The Match of the Day will see Terrigal travelling to Heazlett Park to take on Avoca Beach in what is always such a highlight match on the Central Coast Rugby calendar. These two teams are playing some great rugby, and both teams had pleasing victories last Saturday. Terrigal is currently undefeated and really are taking all before them so far this season. All three wins for them have been quite considerable so they are definitely in some great form this season. Avoca Beach had a good win over Gosford last Saturday and have been playing some pleasing rugby. They had the loss against Lake Macquarie two weeks ago but their victory last Saturday shows they have returned to their match winning ways. Avoca Beach is always so strong at home. Avoca Beach are the reigning Premiers and they know a win against Terrigal on Saturday will show they can maintain that Premiership standing again this year. The Challenge Shield is up for grabs as well this Saturday so there is so much to play for. These two teams are ranked at the top of competition ladder so the victor this Saturday will go right to the very top. It all makes for an enthralling game of rugby on Saturday in this local seaside derby.
Warnervale will travel north to meet Lake Macquarie at Walters Park, Boolaroo in what will be a gripping contest. Lake Macquarie came back to earth a little last week when they were defeated by Terrigal. However their victory at home the week before, against Premiers Avoca Beach, proved they will be strong at home. Warnervale had a draw with the Razorbacks last Saturday so they showed with that result that they are a formidable team and one that can push all teams this year. They will probably go into this clash as slight favourites but firstly, they know Lake Macquarie will want to redeem themselves after last week’s loss, and secondly, they know that Lake Macquarie are that little bit stronger at home. It all makes for an enthralling battle at Boolaroo at the weekend.
The Razorbacks will host Woy Woy at Ourimbah Rugby Park on Saturday. The Razorbacks will be pleased to be home this week, and will go into this match as firm favourites against Woy Woy. Woy Woy are coming off the bye so they will be freshened up and will be fully prepared for their trip to Ourimbah. .The Razorbacks drew with Warnervale last Saturday so they have not won a match over the last two Saturdays. They will be most keen to get a clear win soon. They would have been disappointed last week after they held a handy lead late into the match before allowing Warnervale to even up the match late in that contest. Woy Woy showed grit and determination in their last match, against Gosford two weeks ago, and they will be most keen to post their first victory of the year.
Gosford have the bye in Premier 1 rugby.
Saturday also sees the continuance of the Central Coast Women’s 12’s competition. There are three matches this coming Saturday – Terrigal meet Avoca Beach in what is always an exciting contest, Lake Macquarie host Warnervale, and the Razorbacks play Woy Woy at home.
In President’s Cup, the Razorbacks meet Kariong, The Bay plays The Lakes, Avoca Beach and Terrigal meet, and Lake Macquarie and Warnervale face each other.
